Markets seem to have been the lifeblood of outdoor shopping in recent months, with several variations on the theme of craft, artisan, designer and local producer popping up across Lantau.
The most recent has seen yet another new twist, as it focused on delighting the taste buds of Lantau’s foodies – enter the Lantau Gourmet market.
Based at the Garden Plus garden centre in Pui O, the market not only focused solely on food and drink, but it also took note of the growing heat and humidity of the changing monsoon, operating in the cooler evening hours instead of during the day – 5pm to 9pm
It was a recipe that hit the spot and from the get-go, the island’s market goers kept the gourmet traders busy.
With a mix of breads, meats, Thai food, craft beers, wine, deserts, cheese, jams, honeys, health drinks and even coffee martini’s there was certainly something to appeal to everyone’s palate.
As well as being able to stock up on your favourite goodies to take home, there was also the opportunity to grab a tasty take-away snack or cooling drink as you wandered around the various market stalls.
This all combined atmospherically with the gentle background music, marques and beautiful garden setting to create a much needed ‘feel-good’ boost for everyone, in these less than normal times.
It seems then South Lantau’s first night market can be chalked down as a roaring success and while there is no date yet set for the next, when it is, it is sure to be widely anticipated.
So watch this space as they say or at least the Lantau Network events page and Instagram, where we will be dropping the news as soon as we are in the know.
